North American White ǀ European American
White Californians are people identifying themselves as white or primarily Caucasian or European ancestry sampled in the state of California. According to the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau, 57.6% of California residents identified themselves as White. Of these, 9.8% were German, 7.8% Irish, 6.9% English and 4.3% Italian. With regard to demographics, California has the largest population of White Americans in the U.S.
The White – California population data represent DNA samples from 75 Caucasian (White American) individuals in the state of California. Samples were provided by the California Department of Justice, the Orange County (Calif.) Sheriff-Coroner Crime Laboratory, and the Oregon State Police.
