Lithuania is the largest of the Baltic states and was the first to declare its independence from the Soviet Union in 1990. It is also most homogenous population in the Baltic States. There are two data sets that have been incorporated into DNA Consultants’ method.

1) One of the Lithuania populations is based on 140 unrelated individuals of the Lithuanian minority residing in the Northeastern Poland. In 2002, over 5,600 citizens of Poland declared Lithuanian nationality and 90% of this minority lived in homogenous communities in the province of Podlasie in Northeastern Poland.

2) The other Lithuania population is based on 300 samples of Lithuanian natives in Lithuania. Samples were collected by the State Forensic Medicine Service under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania.
