 Melungeon DNA Fingerprint Plus

The Melungeon version of our famous test
from the company that pioneered the study
of that ethnic group's autosomal ancestry

This is the Melungeon version of our exclusive, best-selling DNA Fingerprint Test, based on the atDNA 3.0 database. You get all the information of the DNA Fingerprint Plus with a Melungeon Match analysis and special Melungeon certificate.

It examines all your ancestral lines at once to tell you which countries and ethnic groups your ancestors came from.  Melungeons usually have Mediterranean and Middle Eastern results in their world matches and often show high European matches in Spain, Portugal, southern France, Croatia and the British Isles.

Once you order, we send you a package with a collection kit and instructions by Priority Mail. You will collect a sample with a cheek swab, and return the kit via a stamped business reply envelope. Your sample will be analyzed against 16 standard STR markers, also called CODIS markers. Your values for 15 of these genetic systems are compared with databases known as the atDNA 4.0 and ENFSI, developed by population experts.

Our unique Melungeon sample became the first population to be added to the database used, since 2006, for the DNA Fingerprint Test. Now find out how high a match you have for Melungeon ancestry and receive a special Melungeon Match certificate.

The 18 Marker Ethnic Panel checks your lab results for 18 distinctive numerical values scattered through your genetic material. These markers were discovered by DNA Consultants. They have been linked to early human migrations branching out of Africa into Asia, Native America and Europe  as shown on our map of prehistoric movements of ethnic groups. Melungeons are viewed as a tri-racial isolate, meaning they often exhibit a combination of European (usually our Euro I), Native American and Sub-Saharan African ancestry.

Your report tells you if you have any given marker from one parent, from both, or from neither. It is not possible to say which parent you get a marker from--that is up to you to decide! And the fact that you do not have a marker does not mean that you lack that ancestry. Read about autosomal markers.

Check out the posts on the Melungeon Forum at DNA Communities to see how the 40 participants in the Melungeon DNA study scored. Many had Melungeon (n=40) as their No. 1 population match. That is outstanding validation for the original sample and the conclusions reached in the study published in Appalachian Journal:

I was impressed with my results. My results stated that I have a high Mulungeon ancestry. Iwas curious as to what I should do next if I want to see more of my native american status and or a more precies DNA history. Thank you for your input and advice.
