MACON, Ga. (January 10, 2005) Customers who pre-ordered the new book on Melungeons by Rutgers marketing professor ELIZABETH CALDWELL HIRSCHMAN began to receive their copies in the mail. Melungeons: The Last Lost Tribe in America uses DNA analysis to document the origins of this Appalachian tri-racial isolate.

Elizabeth Caldwell Hirschman’s primary research areas are social science applications within marketing, consumer behaviour, and advertising; archetype theory; historical analysis of marketing phenomena; and ethnicity. She is a member of the American Marketing Association, Association for Consumer Research, Society for Consumer Psychology, American Academy of Advertising, American Anthropological Association, and Semiotic Society of America.
